June 3, 1999, Reply From Blacks In Government to Employee/Labor Relations

Mr. Richard A. Reda

Director

Employee/Labor Relations Division

U.S. Department of Energy

Washington, DC 20585

Dear Mr. Reda:

Thank you for your memorandum of June 3, 1999, in which you described the perceived management vulnerability and use of the DOE Federal facility.

Please be assured that the table was set up for a BIG membership drive and that the literature was exclusively from BIG members.

Please note that the BIG members that staffed the table on June 2 are also NTEU members. Most importantly, note that the NTEU conversations were initiated by NTEU officers of members who are not associated with BIG. For example Larry Sanders a union Vice President initiated an extended conversation about the upcoming union election.

Sincerely,

Carolyn M. Haylock

President
